PRAYER MATTERS
As shared in Monday’s A-Mail, little John Allen, Bruce and Nancy’s prematurely-born grand-nephew, has passed away in Houston, Texas. The grief of the little guy’s parents and grandparents is deep and wide and we’ll appreciate your prayers for that family.
Gina Hansen is in cancer treatment.
Susan Harrison is receiving treatment for melanoma.
Add Kathy Rabbe to the too-long list of those diagnosed with cancer.
Also receiving cancer treatment. Kevin Kathka’s mother, Deb; Teresa Wheelock’s father; a family friend of Kristen Downs; Beth Whited’s co-worker Katie Brink.
Dee Harold’s sister-in-law, Sharon, is critically ill.
Lynette Short had a positive report to share regarding her father, Roger Hansen, and his hip replacement surgery.
Nancy offers this prayer: God, we bring to you these concerns and ask that you bless these people and their families today with peace and healing of body and spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I Timothy 3:14-16
I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these instructions to you so that, if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of truth. Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great: He was revealed in flesh, vindicated in spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory.
Prayer Ultimately Matters, so Pray with me:
Lord God, I read the passage above and think that one of the problems with the church of our generations is that we have shied away from the great mysteries of faith. We have tried to make everything so….reasonable. How can human experience of the transcendent God, creator of all that is, be reduced to simple maxims and easy explanations? I pray that, at St. Andrew’s, we’ll be given grace to embrace the mystery, rather than try to explain it. And really: All we really need is the love you’ve shown us in Jesus. All we need is love, and faith in God above.

Amen.
