ADAM WITTE writes:
The presentation of our Christmas Cantata, The Promise Of Light, is fast approaching. For all of you who said that October was too early for Christmas music, I can't necessarily disagree with you--but tonight puts us at five rehearsals before we sing in worship! The good news is that, with the performance CD as a reference and a bunch of helpful folks around, it's really pretty easy to learn the music.

Parents, if you have children in Sunday School aged Pre-K through 5th grade, they are going to be learning portions of the Cantata to sing along and add some sign language starting in their classes this weekend. What better way to get the family into the Christmas spirit than to commit to singing in this group together? Some of my fondest childhood memories are of singing Christmas music with my family; this short-term commitment is a wonderful chance to create those memories in your own family.

It's not too late to plug in; if you've been meaning to come and just haven't gotten around to it, by all means, make tonight the night you do. We rehearse tonight (and Wednesdays through Dec. 9th) at 6:30 in the Sanctuary. Come join us!

From Diana Faust: The Advent Conspiracy: Can Christmas Still Change the World? The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love. So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists. And when it's all over, many of us are left with presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and this empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas? What if Christmas became a world-changing event again? It can be a time of worship, meaning and giving that is prophetic, powerful and transformative. In celebrating Christmas in the way of the story Christ followers are taught how to worship fully, spend less, give more and love all this Christmas and every Christmas. Join the Adult Sunday School class for this Advent Study that will begin Nov. 29 at 11:15. Contact Diana to register – dfaust@standrewsomaha.net.

Did you know that we continue to pay down on the St. Andrew’s Building Debt? We’ve paid off another $35,000 on principle since the three-year campaign ended in March.

Joyce Miller writes: The Omaha Ambassador Handbell Choir invites you to join us on November 22nd for a Holiday Concert. The concert begins at 2:00 in the Rotunda and will feature many of your favorite holiday carols. The Christmas Tree will be up and lit; you have enjoyed a wonderful pot-luck in the Family Life Center so what better way to finish the day than enjoying some wonderful handbell music. Many of the ringers in the choir are members of St. Andrews. We would love to see you at the concert. Refreshments will served by the wonderful bakers in the choir. The concert is free and open to all so invite you friends to come and join us on November 22nd. A Love Offering will be taken

Prayer Matters
Earlier today, we had a memorial service for Eleanor Davis, one of the great ladies of this congregation. We extend our deepest sympathy to Eleanor’s husband, Charlie, to her children Alex Birdwell and Mary Ellen Greenwood, to the entire family and her many friends.
We have also learned of the passing of Bob Bottger, former member of St. Andrew’s.
Mary Dougherty sister who is suffering from MS.
Donell Johnson asks prayer for a 22 year old man from Norfolk, dealing with serious complications from the H1N1 flu.
Ongoing Prayer Concerns include:
Gina Hansen, who is dealing with cancer..
Susan Harrison, receiving treatment for melanoma.
Kathy Rabbe, diagnosed with cancer.
Also receiving cancer treatment. Kevin Kathka’s mother, Deb; Teresa Wheelock’s father; Beth Whited’s co-worker Katie Brink.
Dee Harold’s sister-in-law, Sharon, is critically ill.
Lynette Short’s father, Roger Hansen, is recovering from hip replacement surgery.
Let’s pray: Lord God, we thank you for the life of Eleanor Davis, a woman of great faith who meant so much to this congregation. Wherever there is grief in this congregation, spoken or unspoken, please wipe away our tears. Give us the faith to believe that nothing can separate us from your love. I ask in the name of Jesus our Shepherd Savior. Amen.

Daniel 10:18-20
Again one in human form touched me and strengthened me. He said, “Do not fear, greatly beloved, you are safe. Be strong and courageous!” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my Lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”
