What a memorable weekend! It was wonderful to have The St. Andrew’s Singers back in action. Come join them for practice at 7:00 on Wednesday. And while I expected great things from Emily Koonce and Tara Stark on DEFYING GRAVITY, what they did with the song defied even those high expectations. The vocal performance at least met and perhaps exceeded what was heard at the Orpheum in May. Wow.

This is kind of interesting. It was announced over the weekend that, as of 2012, the Nebraska Annual Conference will be sharing a bishop with the Kansas East and Kansas West Conferences. I don’t suppose that will have much of any noticeable effect on St. Andrew’s. I look at a map, though, and it’s a long way from Valentine, Nebraska, to Garden City, Kansas. I don’t envy the bishop who will be asked to cover all that territory, or the folks in Scottsbluff expected to attend a meeting in Topeka or Wichita! As of now, nobody knows where the bishop’s office will be located. The Kansas bishop currently lives in Wichita; the Nebraska bishop resides in Lincoln. I might add that Bishop Sherer retires in 2012, so whoever is covering the area, it won’t be her.

Let’s pray!

Lord God, I thank you for a GRAVITY-DEFYING weekend at St. Andrew’s. It was a thrill, seeing so many Saints of Andrew renew the covenant we have made with you and with each other. Using language from Acts 10, may our Prayers, Presence, Gifts and Service ascend as a memorial to heaven! You are very good to St. Andrew’s. Amen.
