Sunday, September 27, 8:30 & 10:00
Nancy preaching: THAT’S LIFE
A Message for People of all Ages and Stages of Life on How To Get Older Without Getting Old.
St. Andrew’s is proud to present new Bibles to all the third graders this coming Sunday at the 10:00 service. This is a custom and honor in the United Methodist Church. Parents and children report to the Family Life Center at 9:45 to line up alphabetically. We will have the presentation near the beginning of the service so children can be dismissed to their classes and start using their new Bibles!
Children’s Church School Classes meet during the 5:00 hour on Saturday and 10:00 on Sunday. Our Youth Education hour is 10:00 on Sunday

Nancy and I are just back from lunch at Fuddruckers. Have you ever tried their Dogzilla? It’s more a sausage than hot-dog. Add some relish and mustard. Yum!

HARVEST BOUTIQUE: The annual All-Church Harvest Boutique is Saturday, October 3, 2009. Last year we attracted over 1,400 people and raised over $8,000 through the generous donation of time and efforts from our volunteers. Proceeds are used for various projects here at St. Andrew’s as well as local and international mission’s projects. We will need volunteers to make our event a success. There is something for everyone. Volunteer sign ups are underway at the table in the Rotunda. Please drop by and see how you can help us have another successful boutique.

FROM DIANA FAUST:
Presentation on the Book of Esther
Monday, Oct. 5 @ 7 p.m.
The Book of Esther tells the story of Queen Esther and her uncle Mordecai and how they rescued the Jews of the Persian Empire from destruction at the hands of the despicable Haman. However, it never mentions God, Jewish law, the Temple, or anything else we might expect in a biblical book. Why is Esther in the Bible? What is its message? Why should Christians read it? Sidnie White Crawford, from the Department of Classics and Religious Studies at UNL, will be our guest speaker. Invite your friends to come and have your questions answered!

Send your check for $56.35 per person to Nancy Balm (phone 991-5326) or give it to Debi Lees near the BLT board in the rotunda on Sunday.

Two Items From Bob “The Youth Guy” Davis:

Reporting on our first senior high SECRET SERVICE PROJECT……..We took a group of kids out to Royal Oaks retirement community in north Omaha last Sunday. The kids had a great time interacting with the residents. The fun part for me is the kids have no idea what the service project is going to be until we show up at the site. They were all trying to guess where we were going, it was fun. We played T-Ball with the residents after they hit the ball we would serve as their designated runners (lots of laughter). Our next SECRET SERVICE PROJECT will be on Sunday, October 4 (12pm to 4:30pm).

DANGERS OF THE INTERNET! What every parent needs to know! Join us in the sanctuary Tuesday, October 13 (6:30pm -8pm) for a presentation by Bridget Fitzpatrick, and educational specialist with the Omaha Police Department. Ms. Fitzpatrick will show parents how easy their children can gain access to exploitive websites and images (over Facebook, Myspace, and cell phones!). We will be educated on the following topics: Risks and Dangers on the Internet, Signs That Your Child Might Be At Risk, When is Your Child Ready for the Internet, and My Space and Facebook use. The presentation is for adults only and is open to parents with children of any ages. Please RSVP by October 11 by e-mailing Bob at bobdavis@standrewsomaha.net

From Business Administrator HEATHER DOLL: We are in need of some help counting the offering on Monday mornings. This is a once a month commitment for about 1 hour. Three additional counters are needed, we especially need 2 people for the 3rd Monday of the month at 8:00 or 8:30, whichever works best for your schedule. Please contact me at hdoll@standrewsomaha.net
