We have a lot of baseball fans among our readership. A good number of them will be following their favorite teams in the play-offs. Terry Mallott, for instance, is a big Red Sox fan. Mel May roots for the Phillies. Tomorrow will be tense for Ron Cardey (Twins) and Jeff Hatcher (Tigers). C. Todd Cook inexplicably counts himself a Yankees fan. We have a lot of Cubs loyalists out there, too. What did you expect when you signed Milton Bradley? As veteran readers know, I am a BIG St. Louis Cardinals fan. It’s the tribe of my childhood. These late games in LA will be hard on me. I’m an early-to-bed/early-to-rise Methodist, but there’s no chance of going to sleep while the Cardinals are playing post-season baseball. I’d be interested in knowing who some of you will be rooting for. In a nod to our Kansas City constituency, it will be a crime if Zach Greinke doesn’t get the AL Cy Young award. I’m excited about the O-Royals plans to build in Sarpy County. I don’t suppose St. Andrew’s could afford naming rights, but maybe we could rent an outfield billboard location?

Philippians 1:3
I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.

Let’s pray

Lord God, I give thanks as I remember the great people of St. Andrew’s--from charter members of the congregation to those who joined the congregation just this past weekend. St. Andrew’s mission, from Day 1, has been SHARING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. Give us the grace to keep up the good work! AMEN!.
