On the weekend of September 12 & 13, we’ll be offering ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE: THE EXTENDED PLAY VERSION. On Easter, we used Beatles tunes to tell the story of Holy Week. The EXTENDED PLAY VERSION will incorporate about twice as many songs, starting at John 1:1 and taking us through the ascension. We’ve started casting parts. The casting continues on Wednesday (tomorrow) 6:30-7:30. We may well have the casting done this week, but there will still be opportunity to participate in the LET IT BE SINGERS.

Lord God, I read Paul’s confession to the Romans and see a man struggling with what it means to be human in a broken world. The apostle’s sense of his own personal contradictions, particularly in chapter 7, verse 15, hit close to home. None of us are righteous, are we? I’m certainly not--and I cry with Paul, “Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” I thank you for the hope I share with the apostle: “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” My hope is not in my own righteousness; when I’ve tried that, it hasn’t worked so well. My hope is in the righteousness of Christ--that he who IS righteous will be my advocate, my redeemer, my shepherd in the way that leads away from eternal death to eternal life. May He shepherd this congregation, St. Andrew’s, in the direction of Your own choosing. I ask in the name of the Righteous Savior, Amen.
