PASTOR STEVE SMITH writes from Pierce County: Bruce, could you ask Saint Andrews to pray for the people of the former Stark Valley United Methodist Church. Since 1882 this community met at a crossroads in rural Nebraska. In 1947 the original church burned. A new church was consecrated on the site in 1949. The very same people who literally built that building with their own hands and sweat gathered this morning at 7:00 am. I read some scripture, we prayed and then the building. Was fired and is now buried. This is for them a death and they are all in mourning at the burial of the central core of their community
Thanks, Steve

ALPHA
Alpha is a ten-week practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed for people who are initially exploring the Christian life, for those new to the faith, and for those who feel they need a good jump start to their spiritual life.

Alpha is for:
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time.
People meeting together. An opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends.
Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.
Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.

Alpha will be offered at St. Andrew’s on Tuesday evenings starting Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Jodi at creerink@cox.net or Diana at dfaust@standrewsomaha.net to register.

PRAYER MATTERS
We extend the sympathy of the congregation to Kalyn Kimmeneau and her family at the passing of Kalyn’s grandmother.
Scott Mingus writes: Bruce would you mind adding Steve and Stacey Russell and Ron Russell to the prayer requests. Ron’s wife Arlene and Steve’s mother passed away.
Don Carmichael is hospitalized at Immanuel.
Mollie Husman’s father, Jimmy Renner, is hospitalized in Spring, Texas.
Angie Wiese asks prayer for her sister in a time of pregnancy complicatin.
Please continue to remember Netta Pollock and Renu Singh, undergoing cancer treatment.
We ask your continued prayers for Don Blackman, Sheri Alvarez’ father.
Christian Dexter, 2 yrs old, son of Brad & Janelle, is dealing with Acute Lymphoma Leukemia.
Jean Piercy-Busboom ask prayers for her neice, Amy Mahan, in pregnancy complication.
Gale and Dee Harold want us to pray for their niece, Barbara Clark, whose cancer has returned.
Gil and Nina head ask us to pray for Katina Gase, who is on life support.
Hear the prayers of your church, Lord God, for people listed above, and all others dealing with loss, anxiety or pain. There is not a person reading this mailing who doesn’t have their own needs. Maybe our readers will pause right now……..and lift a prayer to you. Help us to believe you are on the receiving end of our petitions, that you hear and that you care. I ask us in the name of Jesus, who taught us to ask and believe we will receive. Amen.
BRD
